China’s Foreign Ministry: Afghanistan is a strategic partner in cooperation

KABUL: China’s Foreign Ministry has announced that Afghanistan is considered a friendly country and a strategic partner in Beijing’s cooperation efforts.

Liu Jian, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, said in a statement on his X account today that China is committed to supporting Afghanistan in overcoming its current difficult situation, particularly following the recent earthquake in the eastern part of the country.

He added that Beijing will expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid worth 50 million Chinese yuan to Afghanistan.

According to the spokesperson, part of this aid was transported to Kabul by air just two days ago.

The statement indicated that China’s assistance to the earthquake victims in eastern Afghanistan will include “tents, blankets, plastic tarps, food supplies,” and other essential items for those affected.

China’s declaration of Afghanistan as a strategic partner comes as Beijing has consistently supported the Afghan authorities’ position in international meetings over the past four years.
