Washington’s efforts to resume Gaza talks; Trump’s advice to Netanyahu: be cautious in attacks

KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump recently stated that Qatar is “a major ally of Washington” and that Israel should exercise caution in its attacks, according to the Israeli newspaper and website Jerusalem on Monday.
Meanwhile, the outlet noted that Washington is making efforts to resume stalled discussions regarding the release of Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners between Tel Aviv and Doha.
In response to a question about his message to Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump remarked that Israel needs to take action regarding Hamas, but emphasized that Qatar has been a significant ally for the United States, something that many people may not realize. He referred to Sheikh Tamim, the Emir of Qatar, as “an extraordinary person.”
However, two U.S. sources informed the Israeli media that Washington recognizes the need to “find the right path” to resume the halted negotiations related to Gaza following Israel’s attack on Qatar.
Previously, the Prime Minister of Qatar announced that Tel Aviv’s assault on Doha had destroyed any hopes for the release of Israeli captives.
