Syrian representative attends UN meetings after decades

KABUL: Ahmad al-Sharaa, the head of Syria’s interim government, has arrived in New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
He received a warm welcome in the United States and has met with several residents of Syria while there.
This is the first time in 58 years that a Syrian president has attended UN meetings, highlighting a significant moment in the country’s diplomatic engagement.
