Activation of the “Snapback” mechanism; Pezeshkian claims U.S. wants a “submissive and weak” Iran

KABUL: All United Nations sanctions against Iran have been reactivated under the “snapback” mechanism, related to the country’s nuclear program, after a decade.

The sanctions began early today, in response to the reimposition of these sanctions, Iran’s President Massoud Pezeshkian stated at a press conference that the U.S. wants Iran to be “submissive and weak” and cannot tolerate a powerful Iran in the region.

Pezeshkian emphasized that the issue goes beyond just the nuclear program; if this matter is resolved, other non-nuclear issues will arise tomorrow.

He noted that while agreements appeared to be reached with the Europeans after negotiations, the U.S. continued to present various excuses when discussions took place.

It remains to be seen how Iran will combat these extensive UN sanctions and stand firm against them.
