Imran Khan criticizes Pakistani military leadership; dictators cannot bring peace

KABUL: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and imprisoned leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan, has described the ongoing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan as concerning.

In a statement released from “Adiala” jail on his X account, he criticized the policies of Pakistan’s military leaders, recalling the era of former military ruler Yahya Khan and asserting that history shows military dictators have never been able to bring about peace, as they see no solution other than military action.

Imran Khan stated: “Politicians choose the path of negotiation to resolve conflicts, and if the current officials cannot do this, then I should be conditionally released to make my efforts toward establishing lasting peace between Afghanistan and Pakistan.”

It is noteworthy that the Pakistani government and military have not yet responded to Imran Khan’s remarks.
