Kremlin: Putin, Trump meeting not needed “at the moment”

KABUL: As the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv in Ukraine intensifies daily, and despite Donald Trump’s repeated promises to end it, Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Kremlin, stated that a meeting between the U.S. and Russian presidents is not currently necessary.

Peskov made the remarks during an interview with the TASS news agency, a state media outlet in Russia, today, where he emphasized that while a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin could potentially happen, there is no need for it at this time.

He added, “Hypothetically, it may be possible, but currently, there is no need for it.”

According to Peskov, immediate and thorough efforts must be made to address the ongoing war in Ukraine.

His comments come after Trump recently canceled a planned meeting with his Russian counterpart, stating that he did not want to waste his time in a meeting that would be ineffective.
