KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, who is set to face a court hearing over tariff disputes during his second term, has announced that he will not attend the session scheduled for this Wednesday.
The U.S. President in a post on his X account, emphasized that the use of tariffs over the past nine months has made the country safer and wealthier. He warned that if he is unable to use tariffs as a tool against other nations, the United States could fall to the level of third-world countries.
He stated that losing his authority to impose tariffs would leave the U.S. defenseless and in an extremely vulnerable position.
Trump wrote: “I will not go to court on Wednesday because I don’t want to distract from the importance of this decision. If we win, we will be the wealthiest and safest country in the world—by far. If we lose, our country might fall to near third-world levels—pray that doesn’t happen!”
According to him, losing the ability to impose tariffs would lead the country toward ruin.
The Supreme Court is set to hold a session on Wednesday regarding Trump’s authority under the “International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).” This law grants the President emergency powers to impose tariffs or sanctions in certain situations.
Since Trump returned to the White House, his use of tariffs against various countries, including U.S. allies, has sparked widespread debate and controversy.
