Hours after direct talks, Israel launches an airstrike on Southern Lebanon

KABUL: Just hours after the first direct talks between Israeli and Lebanese diplomats since 1993, the Israeli military has conducted an airstrike on southern Lebanon, claiming to target Hezbollah’s weapons stockpiles.
Reports indicate that the strike occurred while Israeli and Lebanese diplomats were engaged in a U.S.-brokered meeting—the first of its kind in nearly three decades.
The meeting took place on Wednesday in the Naqoura area along the shared border.
The discussions aimed to reduce border tensions, explore ways to de-escalate the situation, and assess economic cooperation to support stability in southern Lebanon.
Reports suggest that the recent Israeli airstrike has further escalated tensions between the two sides just hours after the meeting.
