KABUL: Following the seizure of Venezuelan oil tankers by the U.S., the country’s oil exports have significantly declined.
The global news agency TRT reported this morning, highlighting rising concerns regarding broader regional implications amid escalating tensions between Washington and Caracas.
U.S. forces seized the Venezuelan tanker named “Skipper” off the country’s coast last Wednesday.
This is the first concrete step taken after the imposition of sanctions on Venezuela over the past six years (since 2019).
Trump administration officials have indicated that further seizures of oil tankers in the waters surrounding Venezuela are forthcoming as part of the ongoing sanctions.
Recently, the U.S. has also imposed sanctions on three nephews of Nicolás Maduro’s wife, along with six of their tankers.
