KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has issued an order to blockade all sanctioned oil tankers from Venezuela as part of increased pressure on Nicolás Maduro’s government.
CBS News reported early today that President Trump stated on the social media platform Truth Social that Venezuela is fully surrounded by the largest naval fleet ever assembled in South American history. He noted that this fleet will only grow, and the shock to Venezuela would be unprecedented.
The current blockade includes all incoming and outgoing vessels to Venezuela.
According to the report, this action is part of intensified efforts to pressure Caracas and leaves open the possibility of land attacks on Venezuela.
No details were provided regarding the number of ships affected by this order.
To date, amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela, at least three Venezuelan oil tankers have been seized by Washington.
