KABUL: In the ongoing tensions between Washington and Caracas, China has declared its comprehensive support for Venezuela and stated its opposition to “unilateral coercion,” Reuters reported today.
According to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi expressed to Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil during a phone call that Beijing and Caracas are strategic partners, highlighting mutual trust and support as a tradition in their bilateral relations.
Wang emphasized that China believes the international community understands and supports Venezuela’s position in defending its legitimate rights and interests.
He affirmed that Beijing advocates protecting countries’ sovereignty.
The ongoing tensions between Venezuela and the U.S. appear to be clarifying global power alignments.
