Trump withdraws National Guard from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland

KABUL: President Donald Trump has announced that he will withdraw the National Guard troops stationed in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland following a ruling by the Supreme Court.

According to Reuters, Trump made the remarks on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday night.

In response, Democratic leaders in the aforementioned cities have interpreted the withdrawal of the National Guard from Los Angeles, Chicago, and Portland as a “legal defeat” for the Republican president.

However, Trump vowed to return the National Guard to these cities, stating, “We will come back, perhaps in a very different and stronger way, when crime rates rise again — it’s only a matter of time.”

In recent months, Trump ordered the deployment of National Guard troops to restore order in several cities due to what he cited as rising crime rates, a move that faced strong backlash and opposition from state governments.

Last week, following legal battles, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Trump’s request to deploy National Guard troops to the state of Illinois.
