KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has recently stated that the United States aims to control Venezuela’s vast oil reserves and will contract American companies to invest billions of dollars to revive the country’s damaged oil industry.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration cited by CNN, Venezuela has approximately 303 billion barrels of crude oil, accounting for about five percent of the world’s oil supply.
CNN reported that Trump has his sights set on these significant oil reserves, which will play a central role in America’s future.
Initially, Trump cited the fight against drugs as a reason for military action; however, he has now clarified the primary objective to the world.
It is noteworthy that under Trump’s orders, military strikes were carried out against Venezuela yesterday, leading to the capture of the country’s president and his wife, who were taken to New York for trial.
This action has sparked intense international backlash.
