IRGC Navy says Tehran controls Hormuz waterway security

KABUL: Mohammad Akbarzadeh, the political deputy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, has stated that Tehran will ultimately control the security of the strategic waterway known as the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Fars News Agency, affiliated with the IRGC, Akbarzadeh mentioned that Iran receives real-time information from up-surface, downsurface, and aerial sections of the Strait of Hormuz, allowing it to make decisions regarding the security of this strategic waterway.
He also noted that Iran’s defensive readiness, particularly in air defense, is at a very high level, and the country has full control over the Strait of Hormuz, deciding which vessels under which flags are permitted to navigate through it.
The military official stated that while Tehran does not wish to see the global economy harmed, it will not allow the U.S. and its allies to profit from a war they initiated.
Akbarzadeh emphasized that neighboring countries, considered friends of Iran, have been informed as well, but warned that “if their airspace, land, or territorial waters are used against Iran, they will be regarded as enemies.”
This comes as the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) recently announced its decision to conduct several days of military exercises in the Middle East.
