KABUL: Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, recently stated that solving the Palestinian issue can serve as the foundation for sustainable security in the region.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoting Araghchi’s remarks made during the “Seventeenth Al-Jazeera Forum” in Doha, Qatar said that the Iranian Foreign Minister characterized the Palestinian issue as a “measure of justice and a true test of the effectiveness of international law.”
He asserted that Palestine is not merely a humanitarian or regional issue; rather, it is the cornerstone of sustainable security in West Asia and a benchmark for the global community’s adherence to the principles of international law.
He described the situation in the occupied territories, including Gaza, as more than just a military conflict, adding that “the mass killings of people and destruction of vital infrastructure” constitute “international crimes” and are a clear case of genocide under international law.
This senior Iranian diplomat warned that the continued lack of accountability from the Israeli regime “undermines international law and replaces the rule of law with the logic of force,” which will have dire consequences.
The statements from the Iranian Foreign Minister come amid reports that, despite a ceasefire in Gaza, killings of civilians and a climate of fear and terror persist in the region.
The Seventeenth Al-Jazeera Forum was held in Doha, Qatar, with the participation of officials from various countries and organizations to create an international platform for dialogue.
