KABUL: Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, recently referred to the U.S. and Israel as “nuclear-armed regimes” in light of their military attacks on Iran.
He made the statement on Wednesday night, in a post on X regarding the march held by Iranian citizens marking the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.
Minister Araghchi emphasized that his country has faced numerous challenges in the decades following the revolution, particularly in the past year, but has emerged resilient from all these events.
He stated, “In just the past year, our people have been the target of unprecedented attacks by two nuclear-armed regimes and subsequently a large-scale terrorist operation; nonetheless, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always stood firm.”
Araghchi linked the persistence of the Iranian government to its reliance on the people of the country, rather than on “foreign regimes.”
He expressed hope that the coming year would be one of “peace and tranquility,” with dialogue prevailing over war.
Iran has faced military tensions and confrontations with the U.S. and Israel in the past year.
Currently, discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program are ongoing between Washington and Tehran, hosted by Oman.
