Pakistan’s Fazlur Rehman calls for early elections amid political disputes

KABUL: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party in Pakistan, has recently called for immediate elections, deeming them essential for “national unity and public trust.”

According to The Express Tribune early today, speaking to the media in Charsadda, the leader emphasized the necessity of an active working relationship between the federal government and the provinces, as he believes that mutual cooperation is crucial for solving the people’s problems. He stated, “No province can solve the problems of the people without the support of the federal government.”

In part of his remarks, he alleged that the U.S. seeks to create instability around the world to maintain its dominance. According to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Washington is also pursuing instability in Iran and Afghanistan.

His recent statements regarding the call for early elections come amid reports of a significant deterioration in the relationship between the federal government and several provinces in Pakistan.
