UNAMA Deputy Head meets Muhammad Sadiq Khan on regional issues

KABUL: Indrika Ratwatte, Deputy Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) for humanitarian affairs, during her visit to Pakistan met with Muhammad Sadiq Khan, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan.

The Special Representative mentioned in a post on his X on Thursday that discussions during the meeting covered issues related to “human rights, security developments, trade,” and other regional matters.

Khan noted the importance of ensuring that Afghan territory is not used against any other country and emphasized the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to address this common threat.

He described his meeting with the UNAMA Deputy as valuable, adding that promoting stability, humanitarian support, counter-terrorism coordination, and sustainable economic development in the region were affirmed during the discussions.

This comes as Islamic Emirate officials have consistently assured that Afghan territory will not be used against any neighboring country, the region, or the world.
