Kabul and Tashkent diplomats reaffirm commitment to stronger bilateral relations

KABUL: Afghanistan’s ambassador to Russia, Mawlavi Gul Hassan Hassan, has met with his Uzbek counterpart, Baturjon Zokirovich Asadov, in Moscow, where the two sides underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Kabul and Tashkent.

According to a statement issued Thursday by the Embassy of Afghanistan in Russia, the ambassadors discussed expanding cooperation in areas including economic collaboration, transit issues, and regional engagement.

The statement noted that the meeting also covered what it described as Afghanistan’s current realities and achievements, particularly in the field of public security. The two diplomats stressed that the country’s situation should be assessed based on “ground realities” and through a positive lens.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing joint cooperation between Kabul and Tashkent.

The meeting comes as Afghanistan earlier this week hosted a joint trade connectivity conference with Uzbekistan in Kabul, aimed at boosting commercial ties between the two neighboring countries.
