Saudi Arabia hopes Iran-U.S. nuclear talks reach final agreement

KABUL: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud has expressed hope that ongoing nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington will reach a final agreement, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

In a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, Prince Faisal conveyed optimism that talks between Iran and the United States would produce conclusive results.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that the two diplomats also reviewed bilateral relations between Tehran and Riyadh and discussed the latest round of nuclear negotiations between the Iranian and U.S. delegations.

Araghchi briefed his Saudi counterpart on recent developments related to Iran’s nuclear program, the statement added. No further details of the high-level diplomatic exchange were disclosed.

The call comes after a second round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States over Tehran’s nuclear program, which concluded two days earlier in Geneva, the capital of Switzerland.
