Muttaqi meets UN Deputy Special Representative to discuss coordination in Afghanistan

KABUL: Minister of Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi has held a farewell meeting with Indrika Ratwatte, the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Resident Coordinator in Afghanistan.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was also attended by Georgette Gagnon, head of the political affairs section and acting head of mission at the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), along with an accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed engagement and coordination between the Islamic Emirate and UN agencies operating in Afghanistan.

Muttaqi praised Ratwatte’s role as the UN’s humanitarian coordinator in Afghanistan and wished him success in his future assignments. Ratwatte, for his part, thanked the Foreign Ministry for its cooperation during his tenure, describing his mission in Afghanistan as marked by valuable experiences and memories.
