KABUL: Iran’s Foreign Minister Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi has called on U.S. President Donald Trump to provide evidence supporting his claim that 32,000 people were killed during recent protests in Iran.
Araghchi responded on Saturday in a post on X, rejecting Trump’s assertion and urging transparency. He said the Iranian government had published a list of those killed in the unrest, including 200 security officers, as part of its commitment to accountability.
“If anyone doubts the accuracy of our data, please share whatever evidence they have,” Araghchi wrote.
According to the Iranian foreign minister, a total of 3,117 people, including security forces, protesters, and civilians were killed during the recent demonstrations.
Trump said late Friday, Tehran time, that 32,000 people had died in the protests, describing the situation as “very sad.”
