Israeli strikes on Lebanon kill 12, injure dozens

KABUL: At least 12 people have been killed and 30 others injured in the latest Israeli air and ground attacks on Lebanon, media reported.

Al Jazeera early Saturday cited figures from the state-run National News Agency (NNA), reporting that the strikes targeted a building in the city of Riyaq in the eastern Beqaa Governorate.

The Israel Defense Forces said the operation targeted sites linked to Hezbollah in the Baalbek area.

A Hezbollah source confirmed to Agence France-Presse that a commander from the group was killed in the attack. Some reports indicate that Israeli forces used both ground and air assets in the operation.

The strike is being seen as the latest violation of a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which has been in place since 2024.
