KABUL: International media outlets, citing witnesses, have reported a powerful explosion in central Tehran, the capital of Iran.
Al Jazeera reported before noon on Saturday, that a major blast had occurred in the city.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Fars News Agency said at least three explosions were heard in Tehran.
Images circulating on social media appear to show thick smoke rising over parts of the capital.
No further details have yet been released.
The reported explosions come amid renewed tensions between Iran and the United States, following what have been described as unsatisfactory nuclear talks between the two countries.
