KABUL: The United States Embassy in Oslo, the capital of Norway, was hit by an explosion early Sunday, media reported.
According to Reuters, the explosion happened at the entrance gate of the consular section of the U.S. Embassy. Witnesses stated that the sound of the blast was heard from inside the embassy compound.
Police in Oslo confirmed the explosion at the U.S. Embassy and said an investigation has been launched.
In a statement, Oslo police said that investigations at the scene are being conducted with the help of dogs, drones, and a helicopter to identify one or more possible suspects.
So far, the United States Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Oslo have not responded to requests for comment.
No individual or group has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion.
