Putin proposes diplomatic solution in call with Trump over Iran conflict

KABUL: The Kremlin has announced that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the war in the Middle East, as well as the situations in Ukraine and Venezuela.

According to Reuters, the one-hour conversation took place on Monday night.

Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, said the call was initiated by Trump, and that Putin presented proposals for a rapid diplomatic solution to end the conflict between Washington and Tehran.

Ushakov added that Trump also shared his assessment of the latest developments following the war with Iran in the Middle East.

The Russian presidential aide described the phone call between Trump and Putin as “frank, practical, and constructive.”

Following the discussion, Trump told media outlets that the war with Iran would eventually end, but not this week.

It remains unclear whether the conversation between the leaders of the White House and the Kremlin could help bring an end to the conflict in the Middle East, which has been escalating for more than 10 days.
