Foreign Minister holds virtual meeting with diplomats, condemns Pakistan strike

KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, held a virtual meeting with Afghan diplomats serving in embassies and consulates abroad, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Muttaqi briefed participants on what he described as violations of Afghanistan’s sovereignty by Pakistan, including a recent airstrike on a drug treatment center in Kabul.

He strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “brutal act” and a clear violation of humanitarian principles, after Afghan officials reported hundreds of casualties.

Muttaqi also instructed Afghan diplomatic missions to convey the Islamic Emirate’s position on the latest developments to international counterparts.

According to the statement, he provided guidance on Afghanistan’s policies and future actions to its diplomatic representatives.

The reported strike has drawn strong reactions from Afghan officials and the public.
