KABUL: Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s parliament, says fundamental disagreements remain between Iran and the United States, particularly over Tehran’s nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz.
In a televised interview aired Saturday night, Ghalibaf who also serves as a senior negotiator said Iran must ensure that the U.S. and Israel do not launch further attacks against the country.
He emphasized that Iran’s negotiating team is standing firm on certain key issues, describing them as non-negotiable and not subject to compromise.
“The enemy is on ambush and brings forward new acts of hostility every day,” he said.
Ghalibaf also noted that Iranian and American negotiating teams now have a more realistic understanding of each other compared to the past.
His remarks come as efforts continue to arrange a new round of talks between Tehran and Washington.
