KABUL: Mohammad Reza Aref, First Vice President of Iran, has said that security in the Strait of Hormuz “is not free,” warning that global oil prices will remain tied to economic and military pressures on Iran and its allies.
In a post on X, Aref stated that it is unacceptable for Iran to face restrictions on oil exports while the strategic waterway remains secure for other countries.
“The choice is clear,” he wrote. “Either the oil market is open for everyone, or all will bear the cost.”
His remarks come amid rising tensions in the region, with earlier warnings from the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters suggesting that the Strait of Hormuz could be fully closed following the reported seizure of an Iranian vessel by the United States.
