KABUL: Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s parliament and chief negotiator with the United States, said Tehran will not accept negotiations conducted “under threat.”
Ghalibaf made the remarks on Tuesday on X, as final preparations are underway for a new round of Iran–U.S. talks expected to be held in Islamabad.
He accused Donald Trump of using “blockade and ceasefire violations” in an attempt to turn negotiations into a platform for surrender or to justify renewed conflict.
“In the past two weeks, we have prepared to reveal new cards on the battlefield,” he wrote.
Earlier, international media quoted Asim Munir, Pakistan’s army chief, as saying that Iran considers the continued naval blockade a major obstacle to participating in the upcoming talks.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions, with Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, also stressing that Tehran will not yield to pressure.
