Russia launches nearly 2,000 drones and 1,400 guided bombs at Ukraine in one week

KABUL: Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, says Russia has launched a massive wave of attacks over the past week, including around 1,900 drones, 1,400 guided aerial bombs, and 60 missiles of various types.
In a statement shared on social media, Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s air defense systems intercepted more than 90 percent of the incoming threats.
He noted that the scale of the attacks highlights the importance and timeliness of European support, including a €90 billion financial package and the latest round of sanctions against Russia.
Zelenskyy emphasized the need to further strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, particularly against ballistic threats.
“Every additional delivery of air defense missiles means saving lives and better protection of our cities and critical infrastructure,” he said.
European Union leaders discussed continued support for Ukraine during a recent meeting in Cyprus.
