Russia launches 2,700 drones and guided bombs on Ukraine in one week, says Zelenskyy

KABUL: Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, says Russian forces have carried out heavy aerial attacks across the country, launching around 2,700 drones and guided bombs over the past week.

In a statement on Saturday, Zelenskyy said the attacks included approximately 1,600 drones and 1,100 guided bombs targeting multiple regions, including Kherson, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Sumy, Mykolaiv, and Donetsk.

He added that in one of the latest incidents on Friday night, a Russian drone strike hit a passenger bus in Kherson, killing two civilians and injuring seven others.

He wrote that such “brutal hunts” against civilians have become a daily reality for communities along the front lines and in border areas.

He warned that Russia is attempting to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense systems through sustained large-scale strikes, stressing that a steady supply of interceptor missiles is critically important.

Ukrainian officials had also reported last week that more than 3,000 drones, guided bombs, and ballistic and cruise missiles were launched by Russian forces across the country.
