KABUL: The European Union says its strategic cooperation with Canada is rapidly growing stronger.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said in a statement on Monday that the partnership between the two sides is deepening day by day.
Her remarks followed a meeting with Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, held on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.
Von der Leyen noted that Carney’s participation in the summit reflects the strengthening of bilateral ties. She also thanked Canada for its continued support of Ukraine and joint efforts to return abducted children to their homes.
Canada’s push to deepen ties with the European Union comes amid cooling relations with the United States following the return of Donald Trump to the White House.
