KABUL: The United States and Iran are close to reaching an agreement on a one-page framework aimed at ending the war in the Persian Gulf.
Reuters cited a Pakistani source involved in mediation efforts, saying the deal could be finalized soon as both sides have made significant progress.
The source also confirmed a recent report by Axios, which quoted U.S. officials and informed sources indicating that Tehran and Washington are nearing an agreement.
According to the report, Washington expects a response from Tehran within 48 hours on several key points.
Among the reported terms: Iran would commit to halting nuclear enrichment, while the United States would lift sanctions, release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets, and both sides would ease restrictions on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
The potential agreement marks a significant step toward de-escalation in a region long marked by tensions between the two countries.
