KABUL: Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s new religious leader, is undergoing intensive medical treatment under strict security conditions following severe burn injuries, CNN, citing several sources familiar with U.S. intelligence assessments, has reported.
According to the report, parts of Mojtaba Khamenei’s body, including his face, hands, upper body, and one leg, suffered serious burns, leading authorities to keep him in an isolated and highly secured environment.
CNN stated that Khamenei is currently avoiding electronic devices and communicating only through face-to-face meetings, representatives, and messengers.
The report added that U.S. sources believe that although he may still play a role in shaping Iran’s military and security strategies, senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are effectively managing day-to-day operations due to his limited accessibility.
CNN further noted that there has been no clear indication so far that Mojtaba Khamenei is issuing operational orders.
Iranian authorities have not yet commented on the report.
