KABUL: Foreign Ministers of the European Union member states have agreed on a new package of sanctions targeting Israeli settlers in the West Bank.
According to Anadolu Agency, the agreement was confirmed on Monday by Jean-Noël Barrot.
The sanctions reportedly target Israeli settlers accused of illegally establishing settlements on Palestinian land and carrying out violence against Palestinians.
Details of the new sanctions package have not yet been made public.
Before the meeting, Kaja Kallas head of the EU foreign policy had expressed hope that member states would reach a political agreement on sanctions against violent settlers.
The move comes after previous attempts by EU members to impose sanctions on Israeli settlers in the West Bank had been blocked due to internal vetoes within the bloc.
