British and Afghan diplomats discuss improving Afghanistan-Pakistan relations

DOHA: Richard Lindsay, the United Kingdom’s special representative for Afghanistan, held talks with Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Doha.
Lindsay said in a post on X early Tuesday that the meeting addressed the need for practical steps to strengthen ties between Kabul and Islamabad.
According to the British envoy, discussions also covered the importance of including women and girls in Afghanistan’s future.
He described the talks with the Afghan ambassador as “important and valuable,” though no further details were disclosed.
Shaheen has not yet publicly commented on the meeting or the details of the discussions.
The meeting comes as regional and international efforts to ease tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan continue.
Alongside Britain, China has also been engaged in diplomatic efforts aimed at improving relations between the two neighboring countries.
