KABUL: Xi Jinping may travel to North Korea next week, according to a report by South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.
The report said a Chinese security and protocol delegation recently visited Pyongyang, fueling speculation that Xi’s visit could take place in late May or early June.
Sources cited by Yonhap said Xi is seeking to play a mediating role in improving relations between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un.
The possible visit comes amid increased diplomatic activity involving major global powers. It follows recent visits to Beijing by both Trump and Vladimir Putin, according to the report.
