After 35 years, flour mill and 15kV power project inaugurated in Kabul

KABUL: Afghanistan’s Central Silo Emirati Company has completed and inaugurated a flour mill and a second 15-kilovolt electricity connection project in Kabul after 35 years.

According to Omid Radio correspondent, the company’s executive director, Mawlavi Nusratullah Mansoor, said the flour mill was built on 100 jeribs of land at a cost of 21 million Afghanis and has the capacity to produce around 130 tons of flour daily.

He added that the second 15kV electricity connection project was also completed at a cost of approximately 2.5 million Afghanis.

Officials at the Kabul Silo said the facility currently has the capacity to store 50,000 tons of wheat and that efforts are underway to strengthen Afghanistan’s self-sufficiency through wheat processing and flour production.

They also noted that around 30,000 loaves of bread are produced and distributed daily for refugees at the Torkham crossing.
