Khalilzad calls Termez meeting a key opportunity for regional cooperation with Afghanistan

KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, former Special Envoy of the United States for Afghanistan has described the Termez meeting as an important opportunity to expand regional cooperation with Afghanistan and strengthen shared economic and transit ties.

Khalilzad emphasized the importance of regional connectivity between Central Asia and South Asia, saying that greater collaboration in transportation, energy, and telecommunications could further enhance security, prosperity, and economic growth across the region.

Referring to the Termez meeting hosted by Tashkent, he said the gathering provides a valuable platform for expanding trilateral dialogue among Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan, while also promoting economic and transit cooperation.

According to him, strengthening such partnerships can pave the way for closer regional coordination and contribute to positive developments across the region.
