Belgium receives list of Afghan delegation members invited to Brussels

KABUL: The European Commission has provided Belgium with a list of members of an Afghan delegation invited to Brussels for discussions on the return of Afghan migrants residing in European countries, media reported.

According to reports, Belgian authorities have begun preliminary assessments through the country’s security agencies regarding the possibility of issuing visas to the delegation members.

Earlier, Magnus Brunner stated that engaging in dialogue with the Islamic Emirate on issues related to Afghan migrants is in Europe’s interest, adding that there is no viable alternative to talks.

EU migration officials have also indicated that many member states are interested in pursuing discussions on migration-related matters.

The reported developments come as contacts between the Islamic Emirate and a number of regional and international countries have expanded in recent months.
