KABUL: A Qatari delegation has arrived in Tehran to advance negotiations between Iran and the United States, following up on last week’s diplomatic talks, media reported.
Iran’s ISNA news agency reported that the delegation, led by an adviser to Qatar’s Foreign Minister, arrived in Tehran on Sunday to continue exchanging messages between Tehran and Washington regarding a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at ending the conflict.
The visit comes after Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi stated on Friday that the “Islamabad Memorandum” had never been closer to finalization.
Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Saturday that the likelihood of the memorandum being finalized in the coming days is high, echoing Araghchi’s assessment that the parties are closer than ever to reaching an agreement.
It is mentionable that Qatari delegation had also visited Tehran last Wednesday as part of ongoing mediation efforts.
