France heatwave kills 18, temperature records broken

KABUL: At least 18 people, including two children who were left inside a vehicle during extreme temperatures, have died in France as an intense heatwave continues to grip Europe, according to reports.
Reports also indicate that at least 13 people drowned between Sunday and Monday. French civil protection authorities, expressing concern over the rise in heat-related incidents, urged the public to swim only in supervised areas.
Meanwhile, temperatures in Bordeaux reached 41.9°C, surpassing last year’s record. In Poitiers, temperatures climbed to 41.2°C, exceeding the previous record set in 1947.
The ongoing heatwave has broken temperature records in several European cities, raising concerns about public health and the growing impact of climate change.
French authorities have urged residents to follow safety guidelines and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during the hottest hours of the day.
