KABUL: The National Procurement Commission, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, has approved 16 development projects worth about 3.5 billion Afghanis.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, 40 projects were presented for approval; after discussions, 16 were approved, while 20 were referred for amendments.
Among the approved and amended projects are the construction of the Qadis Khordak Water Dam in Badghis province, geotechnical studies for the Kilagi Dam in Baghlan province, and the completion of the remaining works on a 600-metric-ton cold storage facility in Paktika province.
The approved projects also includes the design and installation of 10,000-ton oil storage facilities for the Amu Darya Oil Basin, the construction of a 50-bed general hospital in Charchino District of Uruzgan province, the establishment of a cargo truck terminal in Tarin Kot, the provincial capital of Uruzgan, the construction of several internal roads in Kabul City, and the completion of electricity transmission and distribution projects in a number of provinces.
The statement added that all of the approved projects will be financed through the budget of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
