Fresh U.S. airstrikes on Iran; Tehran calls them clear violation of ceasefire agreement

KABUL: The United States military has carried out airstrikes on several Iranian military targets following a reported drone attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes targeted Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, as well as coastal radar installations. Washington claims that Iran’s attack on the commercial vessel constituted a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has called the strikes as a clear violation of the first article of the ceasefire accord, stating that the U.S. attacks targeted coastal surveillance facilities along Iran’s southern shores.

Tehran has also alleged that Israel, in coordination with the United States, carried out attacks on Lebanon, describing the action as another breach of the ceasefire agreement.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry further called on countries along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf to prevent their territories from being used by foreign states for any military operations against Iran.
