KABUL: Armed militants carried out a car bomb attack on a provincial headquarters of Pakistan’s paramilitary Rangers force in the Gulistan-e-Johar area of Karachi, followed by an exchange of fire with security personnel, according to security sources.
Officials said the attackers first rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the Rangers compound before opening fire on security forces, triggering a major security operation in the area.
The militant group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Authorities have not yet released official information regarding casualties or the full extent of the damage caused by the assault.
