KABUL: The Deputy Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Mawlavi Abdul Rahman Rashid, met with the Deputy Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to discuss progress on sustainable development projects for refugees.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the meeting reviewed the implementation of projects in Baghlan and Kunduz provinces carried out by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), UN-Habitat, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Rashid emphasized the importance of cooperation among the organizations involved and called for facilitating project implementation, strengthening coordination with relevant government institutions, and addressing existing challenges.
The UNDP representative reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to continued cooperation, the establishment of a technical team, closer coordination with sectoral authorities, and efforts to resolve current challenges. The official said the projects are intended to improve the economic conditions of refugees in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said both sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to continued cooperation and coordination in advancing economic and social projects benefiting refugees.
