KABUL: Unprecedented heat and widespread drought across Europe this summer have pushed water levels in many of the continent’s seas to their lowest levels on record, exposing archaeological and historical remains that had been hidden underwater for decades.
CNN reported that the receding waters have revealed human and animal remains, centuries-old shipwrecks, and a number of historical artifacts, drawing the attention of archaeologists and researchers.
Experts say rising temperatures and prolonged drought driven by climate change have not only caused widespread environmental impacts but have also uncovered parts of Europe’s historical heritage that had remained hidden beneath the seabed for years.
