KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has said a planned U.S. military strike against Iran has been halted after the two sides reached an understanding on what he described as “the framework of an agreement.”
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the United States had been prepared to launch attacks with “unprecedented power and intensity since World War II,” but the operation was postponed at the request of Iran and several other countries.
He claimed the prospective agreement would lead to the “full reopening” of the Strait of Hormuz and “the end of Iran’s nuclear threat.”
Trump did not provide further details about the reported framework, its implementation timeline, or the parties involved.
Iranian officials have not yet responded publicly to Trump’s remarks.
The comments come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington in recent weeks, with concerns over regional security and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remaining high.
