KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, says Pakistan’s economic, security, and political situation has deteriorated over the past three years.
Marking the third anniversary of the imprisonment of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, Khalilzad wrote on X that although Pakistan has achieved some gains in foreign policy, the country’s overall conditions and the lives of its people have not improved compared with three years ago. He added that Pakistan’s economy continues to face a serious crisis.
Khalilzad also said that Kashmir, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continue to experience insecurity and violence, while Islamabad’s relations with both Afghanistan and India have become more strained than in the past.
